Mrs. Lucille Epperson Stanley

Mrs. Lucille Epperson Stanley, age 86 of Claudville, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010, at her home. She was born in Patrick County on April 25, 1924 to the late Samuel and Julia Anderson Epperson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton A. Stanley; two sons, Barry and Gary Stanley; four sisters, Lillian Turman, Margie Culler, Irene Terry and Ola Radford; and three brothers, Curtis, Hobert and Herbert Epperson. She was a longtime member of Unity Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the Red Bank Homemakers Extension Club.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Tim Newman of Lexington, North Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Patricia Stanley of Claudville; one daughter-in-law, Patsy Stanley of Collinsville; seven grandchildren, Gwyndolyn Imler, Jennifer Stanley, Nicole Akers, Alexandra Stanley, Elizabeth Stanley, Kayla Newman and Justin Newman; two great-grandchildren, Madison Akers and William Imler; and two sisters, Dorothy George of Ararat and Annice Collins of Claudville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stanley will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Unity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Unity Presbyterian Church.
