Mrs. Lucy Hopkins Roantree

Mrs. Lucy Hopkins Roantree, age 78 of Stuart, passed away Monday night at her home. She was born in Patrick County on May 6, 1935 to the late William T. "W.T." Hopkins and Evelyn Hubbard Hopkins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roantree was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gerard Roantree; a sister, Minnie Puckett; and a brother, Allen Hopkins. She had retired from DuPont where she worked in the Chemicals Department, and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Roantree is survived by one son, David Roantree of the home; three daughters, Pam Stegall of Atlanta, Georgia, Lynn Cox and husband, Ronnie, of Axton, Jean Scott and husband, Tim, of Bassett; three grandchildren, Timmy Scott, Jeffrey Scott, Kelly Scott Taylor, and husband, Gary; a great-grandchild, Kaileigh Scott; and one sister, Lillian Terry of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roantree will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Fairystone Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service, and at other times at the home.
