Mrs. Lucy Walton Scott

Mrs. Lucy Walton Scott, age 80 of Stuart, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. She was born on December 1, 1930 in Patrick County to the late Charlie and Leola Young Walton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Verna Lee Scott; two sons, Gaither Daniel Scott and Larry Joe Scott; one great-grandson, Joshua Cecil Scott, Jr.; and three infant brothers. She was a member of Vesta Pentecostal Holiness Church, and had retired from J. P. Stevens.
Mrs. Scott is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Kim Scott of Moneta; five daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Raford Sheppard of Spencer, Carol Smart of Stuart, Brenda and Steve Hughes of Stuart, Nancy and Raymond Wahweotten of Kansas and Reva and Timmy White of Thaxton; 27 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Scearce of Danville and Eula Young of Laurel Fork; and two brothers, Luther Walton of Meadows of Dan and David Walton of Ararat.
Funeral services for Mrs. Scott will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Jonathan Goins and Rev. Bernard Handy officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowman Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
