Mrs. Lucy Whitaker Westmoreland

Mrs. Lucy Louise Whitaker Westmoreland, age 77 of Elkin, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center of Yadkinville. She was born in Surry County on May 18, 1937 to the late Grady Llewellyn and Wavie Lawson Whitaker. Mrs. Westmoreland was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a son, Johnny Ray Whitaker of Jonesville; four sisters, Myrtle Pardue of Jonesville, Rosa and husband Jimmy Moon of Rural Hall, Betty Spicer of Traphill and Sandra and husband Curtis Hayes of Elkin; a brother, William "Pete" Whitaker of Jonesville; several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Westmoreland; two sisters, Bonnie McNeil and Bessie Whitaker. Her funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday November 14,, 2014 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronnie Payne and eulogy by her beloved sister, Sandra Hayes. Burial will follow in Little Richmond Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 pm until the time of the service.
