Mrs. Lydia Margie Doss Moorefield

Mrs. Lydia Margie Doss Moorefield, age 93, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, October 07, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Moorefield was born in Surry County on April 27, 1923 to James Jefferson Doss and Sarah Ella Wood Doss Logan. She was retired from Lynn Hosiery and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Mrs. Moorefield was a Christian mother who was deeply devoted to her family. Surviving is a daughter, Jenny Moorefield; sons and a daughter-in-law, Harold and Gail Moorefield and Donald Moorefield; grandchildren, Cheryl Smith and husband, Mitchell; Teresa Miller and husband, Kevin; Dusty Moorefield; Kristi Marion and husband Neil, Kelli Billings and husband David; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moorefield was preceded in death by sisters, Josie Barber; Ernestine Snow and Maryland Snow and by a brother, Wilson Doss. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bill Tucker and Rev. Tom Delph and Rev. Dale Hawks. Burial will follow in Stony Knoll United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
