Mrs. Mabel Eldridge Collins

Mrs. Mabel Eldridge Collins, 90, of Elkin, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 1, 2011at Heritage Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Randolph County on September 6, 1921 to the late Miles and Myrtle Snow Eldridge. Mrs. Collins was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and Surry Friends of Seniors and a dedicated member of Gum Orchard Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Peggy Collins of Elkin; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a sister, Jewel Haynes of Elkin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cecil Collins, Sr. and her dear son, Charles Cecil, "Buddy" Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday at Gum Orchard Baptist Church by Rev. James Hobernitch and Rev. Joe Lambert with burial to follow in Zephyr cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service.
