Mrs. Magdalene Griffin Jenkins

Mrs. Magdalene Griffin Jenkins, age 87, of Elkin, NC passed away at her home on Friday February 23, 2018. She was born in Surry County, NC on June 15, 1930 to the late Gossie James Griffin and the late Dorothy Fleming Griffin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Wayne Griffin; a daughter Tammy Jenkins Nixon; and two brothers Bobby and Junior Griffin. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a real spitfire of a grandmother. She attended Mount Airy High School and retired from Vaughn Bassett in Elkin. Surviving are her husband of sixty two years, Osler Javan Jenkins of the home; daughter Deborah “Cindy” Welborn of State Road; four grandchildren, Jason Welborn, Marcie and John Johnson, Logan Nixon and fiancée Cierra Boone; Maggie Welborn and fiancé Austin Prevette; four great-grandchildren, Kinley Welborn, Shelby Grace Johnson, Ford Johnson, Gracie Mae Prevette; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Mike Love of Siloam and brother, Donald Ray Griffin of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday February 26, 2018 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Elder Joey Jenkins and Rev. Glenard Lawson will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Gulley with Yadkinville Valley Adult Medicine for the wonderful care he has provided for many years, and to Jennifer Hanks and Sharon Mooney with Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care of Elkin who took such great care of her during the last few weeks of her time here on earth.
