Mrs. Mamie Katherine Dalton

Mrs. Mamie Katherine Dalton, age 89 of Ararat went to be with the Lord, Friday at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born on Aug. 5, 1920 in Mt. Airy, NC to the late Ellis Smith and Emma Anderson Smith. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Alfred Dalton; one sister, Maggie Smith; two brothers, Henry and Preston Smith; a half sister, Pearl Gentry; a half brother, Joe Smith; three infant daughters; two grandsons; one great grandson; four step sons; and four step daughters.
Surviving are six daughters, Frances Casey of Charlotte Court House, Betty Lane of Stuart, Gloria Bowman and husband, Jeff of Claudville, Reva Pierce and Husband, James of Claudville, VA, Connie Lamb of Albertville, AL, Violet "Tina" Abbott of Mt. Airy, NC; one son, Charles "Bucky" Dalton of Claudville; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one brother, Wilburn Smith and wife, Lucy of Salem; and one sister in law, Louise Smith of Ararat.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the Unity Church Cemetery.
