Mrs. Margaret Stella Flippin, age 88 of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on June 3, 1921 to the late Fletcher Morris Smith and Carrie Ward Smith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flippin was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Melvin Flippin, and two sisters, Cornelia Thurman and Mildred Robertson. She was a member of Kearfott Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Flippin is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Jackie Flippin of Ozark, Missouri, Ron and Diane Flippin of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jerry and Lisa Flippin of Salisbury, North Carolina and Jim and Lynn Flippin of Gibsonville, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Karl Malpass of Raleigh, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Knott of Martinsville; Lois Hill of Harrisonburg and Doralee Barnett of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and one brother, Jack Smith of Mount Airy, North Carolina.
A graveside service for Mrs. Flippin will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Stateline Community Cemetery with Rev. C. Allen Myers officiating.
