Mrs. Margaret Ann Yarbrough Peavy

Mrs. Margaret Ann Yarbrough Peavy, 79, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, May 04, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Margaret was the dear matriarch of our family, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She showered love on her family and friends with devotion. She touched our lives and the joy of memories will live on as an enduring presence, offering strength and peace. We are blessed to have had her as an example like hers to follow, and can only hope to honor her life through our actions. Thanks to everyone who kept her and our families in their thoughts and prayers. She was born in Moultrie, Ga.,on August 18, 1934 to the late Eural and Janie Bragg Yarbrough. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Clyde Yarbrough. Mrs. Peavy graduated from the Crawford W. Long School of Nursing, (Atlanta, Ga.) receiving her Registered Nurse diploma. Her credits also included affiliation with Georgia State University, and Emory University. Her experience included clinical, private duty and industrial nursing. She married her college sweetheart, Al Peavy in 1953, and in 1960 the family moved to Mt. Airy, where they have resided since then. She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Al Peavy of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Ann Peavy and husband Tom Simpson of Rock Hill, SC,; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bradly and Leslie Bagnal Peavy of Burlington, Kenneth and Robin Thompson Peavy of Mt. Airy, Kris and Laura Muschany Peavy of Charlotte; ten grandchildren, Benjamin and Ryan Simpson of Rock Hill, SC, Elizabeth, Alex, Grace and Eric Peavy of Burlington, Nicholas and Sydney Anne Peavy of Mt. Airy, Colby and Ava Jane Peavy of Charlotte; three sisters, Geneva Yarbrough Pace of Virginia Beach, VA, Betty Yarbrough Pace of Atlanta, GA, Sandra Yarbrough Devivo of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother and sister-in-law, Aldwin and Loraine Yarbrough of Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM. Service will be held in Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 PM with Dr. Jon Cawley officiating. A private burial will be held at Oakdale Cemetery after the service.
