Mrs. Margaret Delaine Martin Pendleton

Mrs. Margaret Delaine Martin Pendleton, age 88 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at her niece Amy Pendleton’s home. She was born in Patrick County on March 25, 1929 to the late Andy J. and Gladys Clark Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Waitman J. Pendleton; two brothers, Akers J. Martin and Franklin D.R. Martin; two sisters, Rachel M. Wade and Jessie M. Slate.

Margaret was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She owned and operated a beauty shop and had worked in various textile plants before retiring from Bassett Walker. She loved to cook and feed people, always putting others before herself, and had a special way of sharing stories of family history and her life experiences.
Surviving are two brothers, Fred Junior Martin and wife, Betty, of Stuart, Willie Noel Martin and wife, Ruby, of Lawsonville, North Carolina; one sister, Frances J. Hopkins of Stuart; two sisters-in-law, Polly O. Martin of Bassett and Mary H. Martin of Stuart; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Middle Cross Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Morrison and Rev. J.R. Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Minnies Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home of her sister, Frances Hopkins. Following the burial, everyone is welcome to attend a covered dish meal at Middle Cross Missionary Baptist Church.
