Mrs. Margaret Dalton Rodgers, age 98, of Stuart passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on Dec. 18, 1916 to the late Booker and Lilla Shockley Dalton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Moore Rodgers; one sister, Lucy Mae Brammer; and eight brothers, J. Roy, L. Swanson, R. Banner, Harvey W., Bruce A., Booker H., Grady W. and Glenn S. Dalton. Mrs. Rodgers graduated from Stuart High School and took banking courses at Patrick Henry Community College. She was a longtime employee of Patrick County Bank and retired from First National Bank of Martinsville and Henry County as the Assistant Vice President. She was a former director of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce; a County Chairman of the Home Demonstration Club; a member of the Jeb Stuart Women’s Club; a treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society; was on the Board of Directors and Treasurer of Stuart Cemetery; an honorary member of the Girl Scouts and served as a den mother. In 1974-75 she was named to the Who’s Who of American Women. She was a longtime member of Stuart Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, William Sanders Rodgers and wife, Frances of Brentwood, TN, Warren Lee Rodgers, Sr. and fiancé, Ruth J. “R.J.” Janey of Stuart; five grandchildren, Ben M. Rodgers, Charlotte R. Wallenfang, Warren L. Rodgers, Jr., Abby R. Painter, William N. Rodgers; 10 great grandchildren; a large extended family; and special caregivers, Barbara Dalton and Tisice Blankenship.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Gleason Worrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Stuart Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
