Mrs. Margie Etta "Red" Boyd Dawson

Mrs. Margie Etta “Red” Boyd Dawson, age 88, of Cana, VA, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Dawson was born in Carroll County on November 9, 1928 to Roy and Rose McMillian Boyd. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed. Mrs. Dawson was a faithful member and servant of Willow Hill Moravian Church. Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Dawson; sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Elizabeth Dawson; and Mark and Rebecca Dawson; grandchildren, Joshua Dawson, Samuel Dawson, Helen Dawson and Arthur Dawson; a sister, Icy B. Gwyn and sisters-in-law, Josephine Culler, Eulala Dawson and Esther Dawson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn H. Dawson; sisters, Nettie B. Gwyn, Beulah B. Smith and Lena B. Hiatt, and by a brother, Posey Boyd. Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Willow Hill Moravian Church by the Rev. Chuck Harmon. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
