Mrs. Marie Hopkins Edwards

Mrs. Marie Hopkins Edwards, age 85, of Stuart, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. She was born on June 26, 1931 in Patrick County to the late Joseph E. Hopkins and Maude Cochran Hopkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Edwards; one sister, Lora Griffith; and three brothers, Lloyd Hopkins, Hoy Hopkins, and Lloyd Soyars. Marie was a member of Stuart Baptist Church and had retired as an Office Manager with Blue Ridge Nursing Center.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Don Critchfield of Locust Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Sandra Edwards, Ricky and Susan Edwards all of Stuart; five grandchildren, Mark Critchfield, Joseph Edwards and wife, Kate, Adrian Edwards and wife, Kristy, Taylor Edwards, Gracen Edwards; three sisters, Dorothy Tatum, Anita Cox, Mae Pace all of Stuart; two brothers and a sister-in-law, George Hopkins of Stuart, Clint and Nancy Hopkins of Roanoke; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 11:00 am in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Melton, Rev. Robert Belcher, and Pastor Joe Pauliks officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service in the fellowship hall of Sycamore Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made the Stuart Baptist Church Youth Fund, P.O.
