Mrs. Marie Hill Goad

Mrs. Marie Hill Goad, age 79 of Claudville, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Patrick County on May 20, 1931 to the late Edd and Henrietta Dollarhite Hill. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goad was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sterling Goad; two sisters, Marcella Hill and Iva H. Hubbard; and five brothers, Hobert, Glover, Benton, Millard and Vernon Hill. Mrs. Goad worked in the textile industry for 25 years, and was an accomplished quilter. She had been an active member of Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church since 1943.
Mrs. Goad is survived by a son and daughter in law, Mark and Lynn Goad of Mt. Airy, NC; one grandson, Phillip Goad of Claudville; one brother, George Hill of Claudville; and two sisters, Edith Hudson of Fieldale, and Annice Hall of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mrs. Goad will be held Monday at 11 AM at Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Bill Rountree officiating. The family will receive friends after the graveside service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
