Mrs. Mary Hester Epperson Anderson, age 101, widow of Sherman Lee Anderson, of Mount Airy, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015. She was born in Patrick County, VA, on July 6, 1913 to the late Robert Hillary and Phoebe Iwanona Gates Epperson. Mrs. Anderson, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, worked in the textile industry and raised tobacco. Her hobbies included traveling, gardening, and playing Rook. Mrs. Anderson, a Christian lady who loved life and lived each day to the fullest, was a life-long member of Unity Church where she attended when her health permitted. She is survived by two children, a son and daughter-in-law, George and Ann Beasley of Naples, FL, and a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Gray Guynn of Ararat, VA; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Bob and Debi Beasley, Cheryl and Brent Bowling, Bruce and Teresa Beasley, Donna and Tommy Golding, Brian Beasley and Rhonda, Jim and Marie Guynn, Brad and Lisa Beasley, and Caroline and David Goldstein; 23 great grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five sisters, Grace Pedigo, Gladys Smith, Mildred Ayers, Margie George, and Lottie Beasley; and two brothers, Hennis Epperson and Glenn Epperson. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Moody's Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, NC, with the Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in the Unity Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday June 13, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to the Unity Church Cemetery Fund c/o Patricia Anderson 358 Mears Road Claudville, VA 24076. The family would like to thank Mrs. Anderson's care-givers, Rinita, Gina, Christy, and Lyndsy for the loving care they gave her.
