Mrs. Mary Velma Culler Bishop

Mrs. Mary Velma Culler Bishop, age 93, of Ararat, VA, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Laurel Meadows Nursing Home. Mrs. Bishop was born in Patrick County on August 20, 1922 to Emmett F. and Annie Maude Poore Culler. She was such a loving person, not only to her family, but also to anyone who knew her. Mrs. Bishop will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Surviving are daughters, Lois Arlene Pedigo and Frances Burkhart; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Verlie Bishop and Leonard and Barbara Ann Bishop; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Christine Culler and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Franklin Bishop; sisters, Ruth Smith, Leone King, Grace Valentine, Verona Quesinberry, and Jesse Reynolds, and by brothers, Ed Culler, Lester Culler, Carl Culler, Clyde Culler and Russell Culler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Monte Mitchell. Burial will follow in the Culler Family cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
