Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Granny" Bowman

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Granny” Bowman, age 99 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017. She was born in Patrick County on October 29, 1917 to the late Joe and Sally Beth Pack Bowman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, James Parsons Bowman; two sons, Winfred Bowman and Richard Bowman; two daughters, Christine Martin and Laura Wright; a grandson, Jamie Bowman; and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Bowman is survived by three daughters, Lennie "Ann" Swayze, Ola Bowman and Lucille Bowman, all of Stuart; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie and Carla Bowman of Stuart and Willie Bowman of Tampa, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Booker Bowman of Rockingham, North Carolina and Jessie Bowman of Tampa, Florida; two sons-in-law, Clinton Martin of Collinsville and Doug Wright of Lincolnton, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor J.R. Vipperman officiating. Burial will follow in Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
