Mrs. Mary Lessie Jenkins Coe, age 82, of Dobson, NC passed away on Sunday evening December 4, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Timothy 4:6-8: "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them as that love his appearing." She was born in Surry County on December 24, 1928 to the late Jim and Lillie Stanley Jenkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gurney Lee Coe; four sisters and eight brothers. She was a homemaker, and had managed a restaurant, and had worked as a nurse's aid. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Avery Wood, of Elkin, NC; son and daughter-in-law Rev. Terry and Irene Coe of Elkin, NC; grandchildren and spouses Todd and Vanessa Baker, Tony and Lisa Wood, Steve and Pam Wood, Sharia and James Templeton, Summer and Brandon Ashley, Heather and Ray Grant, Brittany and Nathan Guy, Kelly Oxendine, and Ally Coe; great-grandchildren Bryan Wood, Sydney Baker, Hannah Baker, Riley Templeton, Jaylyn Templeton, Eden Ashley, Blake Ashley, Glory Wood, Davis Ashley, Bentley Nichols, McKinley Guy. Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at Second Chance Church with burial to follow on Thursday Morning at 10:00 A.M. if weather permits. Rev. Bill Jenkins and Rev. Butch Holder will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until the time of her service at 7:00 P.M. the family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Second Chance Church Youth Center Fund 449 Bear Creek Church Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody- Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Coe family.
