Mrs. Mary Lawrence Harris

Mrs. Mary Lawrence Harris, age 87 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at Wheatland Retirement Community in Hillsville. She was born in Christiansburg on March 1, 1923 to the late Hubert L. and Josephine Light Lawrence. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Harris, Jr. and a brother, Howard Lawrence. She was a member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church.
Mrs. Harris is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wilburn Harris of Marion, and Walter and Patsy Harris of Meadows of Dan; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Pat Thomas of Durham, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Matthew Harris, Andrew Harris, Phillip Bridges, Ben G. Harris, Pamela Harris Holt and Angela Harris Bird; and five great-grandchildren, Kelsey Harris, Carson Harris, Nicole Bridges, Brooklyn Holt and Caroline Harris.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Shockley officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
