Mary Lynn Haynes, 101, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2013. She was born in Mount Airy on April 29, 1912, to Edgar Harvey Hennis and Nancy Susan McGee Hennis. She lived her entire life in Mount Airy but enjoyed trips all over the United States (including Hawaii). She would say nothing is more beautiful than the Blue Ridge Mountains right here at home. She was preceded in death by two fine husbands, Rossie D. George and Lester Haynes, her beloved daughter Mary Lynda George Snow, and grandsons Craig Snow and David Carlton George; Mary Lynn is survived by her son Dillard George, his wife Corinne of Orlando, FL. and their sons James Drew George of Suffolk, VA. and R. Dillard George, III, his wife Elizabeth of Norfolk, VA., her son-in-law P.J. Snow, his wife Joy of Mount Airy and Mary Lynn's other grandchildren Lisa Snow Blevins, her husband Mark, Mary Karen Snow and John Mitchell "Mitch" Snow. She has five great grandchildren David and Benjamin George, Patrick Blevins, Mally Jaye Snow and Ethan Edwards. Her many interests included being secretary of the Garden Gate Club and years of membership in the Mount Airy Craft Guild. With her gift for ceramics Mary Lynn created many treasured keepsakes for family and friends. She enjoyed bridge, bird watching, antiquing and Chocolate. Her toy poodles were faithful companions through the years. Mary Lynn's last years were spent at Ridgecrest where she received outstanding care by the capable and caring staff led by Linda Vernon and Nancy Smith. All of her sitter companions were excellent, especially Susan Fulk. Mary Lynn (Mother, Teen, Granny) lived a unique, gracious life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who knew her. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday July 23, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Roger Gilbert, her pastor at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ridgecrest Assisted Living activity department, 1000 Ridgecrest Lane, Mt. Airy, NC. 27030 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC. 27030
