Mrs. Mary Spence Hensley

Mrs. Mary DeHart Spence Hensley, age 86 of Patrick Springs, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on August 19, 1920 to the late Elijah and Pearl Boyd DeHart. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Spence, and her second husband, Ellis Hensley; two brothers, Harry and Henry DeHart; and one sister, Dorothy DeHart. She was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hensley is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Al Massey and Linda "Judy" and Larry Cassady, all of Patrick Springs; seven sons and daughters-in-law, Charles "Sonny" and Betty Spence, Frank and Frances Spence, Fred and Sue Spence and Curtis Junior Spence, all of Patrick Springs, Raymond and Earlean Spence of Stuart, Bruce and Phyllis Spence of Midlothian, and Alvin and Marie Ayers of Eden, North Carolina; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Goblin of Kannapolis, North Carolina; one brother, Hoy DeHart of Richmond; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Bernard Handy, Rev. Mark Wright and Rev. Dale Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
