Mrs. Mary "Elizabeth" Arnold Hines

Mrs. Mary "Elizabeth" Arnold Hines, age 92 of Stuart, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at her home. She was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on July 7, 1921 to the late William Jackson and Linner Johnson Arnold. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hines was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Manly Hines; one son, Robert Allen Hines; four sisters, Molene A. Joyce, Irene Hughes, Sadie Wallace and Rachell Lovell; and four brothers, George, Russell, James and William J. Arnold. She was a longtime member of Hylton Thessalonia Primitive Baptist Church, and had retired from the dietary department of R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital (now Pioneer Community Hospital).
Mrs. Hines is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Annie Mae and Melvin Hylton of Stuart and Nannie Faye and Clinton Carter of Mount Airy, North Carolina; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Glenda Hines of Stuart, James and Iris Hines of Stuart and Roger Dale and Evelyn Hines of Omaha, Nebraska; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hines will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Hylton Thessalonia Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Walter Scales and Elder Manuel Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A wake will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the homeplace.
