Mrs. Mary Jo Hutchens, age 54 of Spencer, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at her home. She was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 24, 1958, and was preceded in death by her father, Carroll Jay. She was a LPN at Blue Ridge Nursing Center, a longtime member of Providence United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad, and a member of Moorefield Store Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. Hutchens is survived by her husband of 23 years, Donald Wayne Hutchens of the home; her mother, Dolores Skidmore Jay of Lexington, South Carolina; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Dan Kartanos of Columbia, South Carolina, Vonda and Eric Eanes of Tega Cay, South Carolina, Diane and D.C. Ricketson of New Hope, Virginia, Sara Leigh and Jeff Baker of Greenville, Virginia; one brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Jennifer Jay of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; seven nephews; four nieces; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kermit and Delia Hutchens of Spencer; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Angie Hutchens of Spencer; and a special niece, Kenadie Hutchens.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Curt Ashley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
