Mrs. Mary Ruth Atkins McGee

Mrs. Mary Ruth Atkins McGee, 73, of Mount Airy passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Golden Living Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on August 24, 1940 to the late Coy and Mary McHone Atkins. Mrs. McGee was a retired Inspector from Spencer Corporation and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Paul Raymond McGee, Jr., of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Dennis Wade Barker of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Susan McGee of King, Raymond McGee of Winston and Elizabeth McGee of King; two grandsons, Joseph Barker of Portland, Oregon and Zachary McGee of King; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sally Holder of Mount Airy and Sandra and Eddie Ray Draughn also of Mount Airy; two brothers and sister-in-law, Bud Atkins of Mount Airy, Fox and Jackie Atkins of Ararat. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Brintle, Alma Robertson and five brothers, Nick Atkins, Coy Atkins, Jr., Ernest Atkins, Curtis Atkins and Max Atkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday October 9, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dobson Branch, by Elder B.J. Nelson with burial to follow in James Monroe Hiatt Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
