Mrs. Mary Lou Collins Ray

Mrs. Mary Lou Collins Ray, age 95 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Pioneer Community Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on August 16, 1915 to the late Tom and Hester Collins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. Jessup, her second husband, Marion Ray, and three sisters, Lucy Collins, Lois Jessup and Iris Merritt. She was a longtime member of Collinstown Presbyterian Church and had retired from J. P. Stevens.
Mrs. Ray is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Mica Williams of Stuart, Katherine and Ron Anderson of Hamptonville, North Carolina, Carolyn Woodard of Newport News, Brenda and Bruce Moorefield of Kernersville, North Carolina; two sons, Wayne Ray of King, North Carolina and Bill Ray of Dublin; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Robbins of Kernersville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ray will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Collinstown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shaun Draughn and Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Stateline Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
