Mrs. Mary Ann Rector Steele

Mrs. Mary Ann Rector Steele, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday night, December 7, 2015, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Steele was born January 20, 1932, in Guilford County, the daughter of the late Tony and Nell Byrd Rector. Mrs. Steele was a retired real estate broker, an avid golfer, and a member of the Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Thomas Garnett Steele of the home; one son, Kenneth Garnett Steele of Knoxville, TN. In addition to her parents Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by a son, Danny Steele; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sue Rector Elder and Thomas Satterfield Elder. Funeral services will be held Friday December 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Mount Airy Wesleyan Church with Rev. Richard Loman and Rev. Eric Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The Steele family will receive family and friends at the church on Friday from 12:30 until the hour of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mount Airy Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 2063 South Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030 or the charity of the donors choice. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Skilled Nursing Facility of Northern Hospital of Surry County.
