Mrs. Mary Ruth Evans White

Mrs. Mary Ruth Evans White, age 77 the widow of the late Adam Gilbert White passed away on Thursday morning January 4, 2007 at Forsyth Memorial Medical Center in Winston Salem. "Ruth said please do not grieve for me you know I will be happy and have no more heart aches". She was born in Surry County on February 8, 1929 to the late Richard and Valley Ann White Evans. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter Vickie Calhoun and by three sisters Alma Evans Coe, Ettie Evans Stanley, Elsie Evans Dezern, by one brother Foley Evans. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a retired secretary for Adams Millis in Mt. Airy. Surviving are step children Barbara and Robert G. Hege of Greensboro, Billy Lee and Irene White of Elkin; six step grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren; one sister Vassie Sanders of Kernersville, NC; nieces Shelby Stanley, Betty Newman, Lois Johnson, and Helen Wall all of Elkin; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Andy Atkins will officiate the service. Her body will remain at Moody-Davis until carried to the church 30 min. prior to the services. The Family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Friday evening from 7 until 9 PM and at other times the home of her niece Betty Newman 1256 Dobbins Mill Rd. Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center and the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center for the care, kindness and love shown to Ruth.
