Mrs. Mary Magdalene Conner Wood

Mrs. Mary Magdalene Conner Wood, age 63 of Vesta, passed away Monday, February 12, 2007 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Floyd County on May 15, 1943, and was preceded in death by her father, Jabe H. Conner. She was a member of Skyline Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband, Arthur Waymon Wood of Vesta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Lynn Wood of Danville and Larry and Cheri Wood of Stuart; one grandson, Devin Matthew Wood of Danville and one step-grandson, PFC Joshua E. Martin, USMC, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; her mother, Millie Eva Belcher Conner of Floyd; five brothers, Henry Conner of Martinsville, and Jabe Conner, Jr., Orlee Conner, James Conner and Glenn Conner, all of Floyd; and five sisters, Irene Conner Goad of Dugspur, Esther Conner of Meadows of Dan, Becky Sowers of Floyd, Rachel Conner of Floyd, and Susie Hickman of Eden, North Carolina.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Wes Conner and Bill Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of her son, Larry Wood, on Buena Vista Ave., Stuart.
