Mrs. Maxine Goodson Hawks

Mrs. Maxine Goodson Hawks, age 73 of Lowgap passed away at her home Friday, December 30, 2011. Mrs. Hawks was born on July 17, 1938 to thelate Lester and Bonnie Murphy Goodson. She was a homemaker and attended Roaring Gap Baptist Church. Mrs. Hawks is survived by a sister-in-law, Oma Goodson, Mt. Airy, nieces and husband, Carolyn and Elder Arwood Edwards, Mt. Airy, Denise Tate, Mt. Airy and Teresa Holderfield, Galax, VA, nephew, Dennis Goodson, Mt. Airy, "special cousin", Catherine Morton, Lowgap and a "special friend", Gary Douglas, Lowgap. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lee Hawks; two sister, Mae Gentry and Maggie McCann and two brothers, Ray and Boyd Goodson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Roaring Gap Baptist church with Rev. Joe Atkins and Elder Woody Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mrs. Hawks home anytime. The body rests at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where it will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
