Mrs. Metta Lucille Draughn Wood

Mrs. Metta Lucille Draughn Wood, age 87, of Dobson, NC passed away on Sunday morning June 28, 2015 at Clemmons Village II, in Clemmons, NC. She was born in Surry County on February 3, 1928 to the late Sidney Raymond Draughn and the late Maggie Viola Jones Draughn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Riley Lee Wood; one sister Ruth Bledsoe; three brothers, Ralph Draughn , Kelly Draughn, Harvey Draughn. She was retired from Perry Manufacturing and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and Don Cothren of Winston-Salem, NC, Amy and Steve Lilley of Summerfield, NC; four grandchildren Alex Lilley, Michael Lilley both of Summerfield, NC, Donna Pruitt, Mary Ann Jarvis both of Statesville, NC; three great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law Dorothy Rumley of Mt. Airy, Nannie Lou and Ray Kidd of Dobson; one brother Raymond Draughn of Matthews, NC; three sisters-in-law Bertha Draughn, of Burlington, NC, Vena Draughn, of Dobson, Hollie Draughn, of Matthews, NC; several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Salem Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Alton Bledsoe and Rev. Dennis Bledsoe will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, after the receiving of friends her body will be carried back to Moody-Davis Funeral home in Dobson until carried to the church to lie in state 30 Min. before the service. The family would like to give a special Thank You to the Staff of Clemmons Village II for the love and care given to their mother.
