Mrs. Mildred Corns Clark, age 95, of Martinsville and formerly of Stuart passed away on June 22, 2007 at Stanleytown Health Care Center. She was born September 21, 1911 in Stokes County to the late Joe Henry and Fannie Creasey Corns. Mrs. Clark was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Clark, four brothers; Frank, Russell "Buster", Grover, and James "Lummie" Corns, three sisters; Mervie Smith, Wavie Miller, and Agnes Conner. Mrs. Clark and her husband owned and operated Garrett Cleaners in Martinsville, after their retirement they traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada and she was well known as a quilter.
Mrs. Clark is survived by her brother, Paul Corns of Stuart; a special relative, Sheila Steele of Greensboro, NC; four nieces, Margaret Knight of Clemmons, NC, Angela Smith of Lawsonville, NC, Kim Cassell of Martinsville, Elizabeth Berry of Alabama; and two nephews, Bruce Corns of Spencer and Jimmy Corns.
Services for Mrs. Clark will be held on Sunday June 24, 2007 at 2:00PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Rev. Curtis Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Peters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral beginning at 12:00PM.
