Mrs. Mildred Kay Miller

On Tuesday September 27, 2011 surrounded by her family and loved ones Mildred K Miller slipped quietly into the arms of Jesus, Awaiting her long journey into the gates of Heaven and her reunion with her son Dwayne and other loved ones. After a long and courageous battle with lung cancer for two and half years, Mildred passed on at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Other than her son Dwayne she was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Martillie Lester and several brothers and sisters. Born March 29, 1948 in Bottom Creek in McDowell County WV. She leaves behind her husband, Donald, son Shane and wife Kandi, grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian and a special grandchild, Santanna. Also a very faithful niece Rebecca. She is survived by sisters, Oma Lambert, Brenda Lawson, Linda Hammonds, Betty Lester, and Virgie Slone and a very special sister, Faye Lester; brothers, Gene Lester, Larry Lester and wife Gloria, Doug Lester, Roger Lester and wife Barbara; mother-in-law Carol Miller and a host of family in the Miller family whom she loved very much. Mildred loved life and her family very much. Never met a stranger, getting together to play cards, or mountain trips with Donald and the kids made her day. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Loudermilk and Rev. Essie Gist officiating. Burial will follow in Dobson Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
