Mrs. Minnie “Tootsie” Inman Carson, age 83, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2017, at Autumn Care in Marion. Mrs. Carson was born in Surry County on March 2, 1934, to Arthur Inman and Ruth Davenport Inman Venable. She was retired from Quality Mills and worked with her husband on the family farm. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and church family of New Bethel Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Shirli Carson; grandchildren, Stephen Carson, Philip Carson and wife, Angela, and Sarah Vaden and husband, Bryan; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ryan, Matthew, Alyssa and Addison; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Tootie Inman; a special nephew, Donald Carson and wife Anita; nephew Terry Carson and wife Peggy; and nieces, Kim Livengood and husband Mike, and Dana Watson and husband Michael In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carson was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 68 years, George Washington Carson. Funeral services will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 11:00 AM by Rev. Jimmy McCraw. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday, beginning at 10:00 AM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church at 2826 Pipers Gap Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Pruitt Health Care of Elkin and Autumn Care of Marion for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Carson.
