Mrs. Minnie J. "Mickey" Corns

Mrs. Minnie J. "Mickey" Corns, age 83 of Spencer, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her home. She was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late John Hampton Joyce and Josie Martin Joyce. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Corns was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Corns; one brother, Less Joyce; and three sisters, Martha Etta Adkins, Gertrude Durham and Rene Alice Nuckles. She had retired from Bassett-Walker Industries.
Mrs. Corns is survived by one son, Bruce Corns of Spencer; one daughter, Linda Compton of Kannapolis, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Brode H. Corns, Tony L. Millsaps, Jeffrey Millsaps, and Jimmy Compton; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Compton, Kristen Compton and Candi Millsaps; and one step great-grandson, Daniel Muner.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Peters Creek Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Ed Hartman and Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the homeplace, 508 Maple Leaf Road, Spencer, Virginia.
