Mrs. Myra Eva "Tootsie" Burcham Hawks

Mrs. Myra Eva "Tootsie" Burcham Hawks age 94 of 170 Greasy Run Road, Lowgap, NC widow of Mr. Wilburn Hawks passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at home. She was born June 13, 1919 in Surry County, NC to the late Wesley and Celia Jane Smith Burcham. She was a homemaker and was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lynn Cockerham Snow and Marvin, Lowgap, Kay Cockerham Cook, Lambsburg, VA, Karen Cockerham Butcher and Kyle, Lowgap, Cindy Cockerham Inman and Cecil, Lowgap two sons and daughters-in-law, Freddy Thore and Jeanette, Morristown, TN, and Gray Cockerham and Linda, Claudville, VA, 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, , Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her first husband, Roscoe Thore, her second husband, Fred Odell Cockerham, Jr. , a daughter, Nyoka Jenkins and a son, Jimmy Thore, several sisters and brothers. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Holly Grove Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ken Jenkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00 pm Saturday until time of the service at Holly Grove Baptist Church.
