Mrs. Myrtle Dale Belcher

Mrs. Myrtle Dale Belcher, age 93 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on May 14, 1919 to the late Randall and Flora Harris Belcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Belcher was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Belcher; a son, Glenn Belcher; a sister, Clayton Creedle; and nine brothers, Edgar, Ernest, Arlie, Walter, Joe, Raymond, Watemon, Samuel E. and Loy Belcher. She was a charter member of Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church; and enjoyed quilting, crafting, traveling and tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She was "Granny" to all who knew her.
Mrs. Belcher is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Linwood and Carolyn Belcher of Meadows of Dan; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a daughter-in-law, Shelby Harris, and her husband, Miles, of Stuart; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Alton Dillon of New Castle.
Funeral services for Mrs. Belcher will be held Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jeff Dalton and Bill Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home of her son, Linwood Belcher. If desired, memorials may be made to the Slate Mountain Cemetery Fund, c/o Nelene W. Wood, 2121 Lonesome Dove Drive, Christiansburg, Virginia 24073.
