Mrs. Myrtle Marie Webb Utt

Mrs. Myrtle Marie Webb Utt, age 82 of Fancy Gap, VA, lost her long courageous battle to cancer on February 22, 2013 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Myrtle, a much beloved daughter was born to Robert Lawrence and Amanda (Mandy) Bowman Webb on February 24, 1930. She was married to Reaford E. Utt on December 21, 1946 and they resided at Fancy Gap, VA. She was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. For over 67 years she worked the farm with her loving husband. She loved to plant her flowers, quilting and crocheting for her children and grandchildren and planting a garden. Myrtle was also well known for her delicious Banana Cake she made for the Webb Family Reunions. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Missie Utt of Fancy Gap; three daughters, Kathy Surratt of Fancy Gap; Phyllis Martin and husband Tony of Elkin and Jane Dowell and husband Roy of Cana. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Scott Martin and wife Larra; Chad Phillips and wife Leigh Ann; Amanda Bourne; B.J. Utt and Casey Utt; five precious great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Zephyr Webb of Danville; a life-long friend, Ila Utt; several nieces and nephews, especially Chester and Amy Webb and Roger Webb who loved to visit often. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27107 or to St. Jude's Research. The family would like to express a special thank you to Michael Parris; Dr. Nick Chrysson and staff; Northern Hospital ER staff, Forsyth Hospital (Neurology and Oncology) the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Laurel Fork Rescue, Surry County EMS, Pastor Wendell Horton and all extended family, neighbors and friends for the continued love and support. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy by Rev. Wendell Horton. Burial will follow in the Isaac Banks Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
