Mrs. Nancy Lee Badgett Nichols, 72, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2013 at her home at Ridge Crest Retirement Center. She was born in Surry County on February 20, 1941 to the late Lawrence Elbert Badgett and Lettie Mae Shelton Badgett. Mrs. Nichols was a member of Dover Baptist Church. She was employed by the City of Mount Airy for twenty-five years where she advanced to Finance Director. After the death of her husband she re-entered the workforce with Surry Temporary Services and later founded Elite Temporary Services in Elkin. She was an entrepreneur and community leader serving as a Charter Member and Secretary of the Yadkin Valley Rotary Club in Elkin. She is a Paul Harris Fellow and lived her life by the Four Way Test. She is survived by her three loving children, Teresa Nichols Taylor and husband, Robert E. Taylor, Jr. of Harrisburg, Jeffrey Wayne Nichols and wife, Tana of Kannapolis, Christopher Lee Nichols and fiancé, Amy Hiatt of Mooresville; her beloved grandchildren, Megan Nichols, John Christopher Nichols, Emma Michelle Nichols, Wesley Dale Nichols and Erin Elizabeth Nichols; one great grandchild, Braelyn Tana Nichols; two sisters, Polly Love of Westfield and Gail Hicks and husband, Tommy of Mount Airy; two brothers, Gary Badgett and wife Judy of Mount Airy and Donald Badgett and wife Linda of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Nichols. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with services conducted by her sons Jeff Nichols and Chris Nichols with burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 PM until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
