Mrs. Nellie Goad Belton

Mrs. Nellie Goad Belton, age 97, of Stuart, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Landmark Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on Feb. 27, 1920 to the late Lehue Franklin Goad and Lula Sophia Marshall Goad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Belton, Sr., one son, James “Jimmy” Belton, Jr., two sisters, Goldie McAlexander, Nannie Williams; and six brothers, Lloyd, Edward, Sterling, Claude, Henry, and Wayne Goad. She was a member of Stuart Presbyterian Church and Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carol B. and Donald Vernon of Stuart; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Peggy Belton of Critz; five grandchildren, Michael Vernon, Keith Vernon and wife, Sara, Mark Vernon and wife, Marci, Cheryl Dillon, Allison Belton; 13 great grandchildren, Lee Vernon, Kelly Vernon, Justin Vernon, Donald Shane Vernon, Kayla Dillon, Dennis Vernon, Erin Vernon, Wesley Hudson, Brandon Wood, Caroline Vernon, Sadie Vernon, Will Vernon, Chelsea Lawson; one brother, Harry Lee Goad of Rancho Cordova, CA; two sisters-in-law, Shelva McAlexander of Stuart, Leona Goad of Patrick Springs; one brother-in-law, Emmit Williams of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Keith Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
