Mrs. Nellie Rorrer Moran, age 87 of Woolwine passed away Thursday morning at her home. She was born on March 1, 1922 in Beckley County, WV to the late Thomas Daniel Rorrer and Loucinda Harman Rorrer. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Blanco Moran; two sisters, Eva Cardwell, Lillie Nelson; and three brothers, Willard Rorrer, Thomas D. Rorrer, and Johnnie C. Rorrer. Mrs. Moran was a longtime member of Woolwine United Methodist Church and a member of the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Margie and Garland Cockram of Woolwine, Janie and Joe Spichek of Roanoke; three sons and daughters in law, Bernard and Shirley Moran of Woolwine, Sherman Harless and Darnell Moran of Stuart, Lewis Gaylon and Carolyn Moran of King, NC; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and one brother, Jackie H. Rorrer of Woolwine.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Woolwine United Methodist Church with Pastors Dewayne Troutt and Sandy LaForce officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Memorials may be made to the Smith River Recue Squad, P. O.
