Mrs. Nettie Maye Russell Martin

Mrs. Nettie Maye Russell Martin, age 89 of Stuart, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born August 18, 1923 in Bogue (Carteret County), North Carolina, a daughter of the late William Nebraska Russell and Della Elizabeth Godwin Russell. She was a homemaker, manager of The Music Shop on Main Street in Stuart in the 1960's and long-time member of Stuart Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Glenn Martin; four brothers, Malcolm, Linwood, Jimmy and Lionel Russell; and two sisters, Lillian R. Cooke and Mary R. Russell.
Mrs. Martin is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Bruce Griffith of Stuart; a step-daughter, Connie Martin Church of Marietta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Mrs. Kara (Bruce) Ward of Wallburg, North Carolina and Talley A. Griffith of Stuart; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Kaleigh Griffith of Stuart, and Mason and Connor Ward of Wallburg; five step-grandchildren, Mrs. Cris (Hank) Price of Marietta, Mrs. Catherine (Geoff) Gilbertson of Marietta, Craig (Julie) Church of Alexandria, Virginia; ten step-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Morgan and Virginia Hines of Stuart.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Stuart Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Belcher, Rev. Jim Churchwell and Rev. Keith Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Collinstown Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Stuart Baptist Church, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Cindy Griffith.
