Mrs. Nonnie Lou Bunker East, 77, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. She was born in Surry County on July 12, 1935 to the late Byron D. and Maude Key Bunker. Mrs. East was retired from Spencer's Incorporated and was a member of Rockford Street United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She is survived by her husband Edd East of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jennifer East of Mt. Airy; grandchildren and spouses, Shane and Kelly East of Mt. Airy, Amie and Josh Warner of High Point, Kelly and Javier Luna of Sparta; great grandchildren, Katelyn and Kinsley East of Mt. Airy, Emma and Khloe Warner of High Point, Samuel and Deago Luna of Sparta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lena and Ivy Stack of Winston Salem, Ruby East, Byrona Atkins both of Mt. Airy, Chester Atkins of Pilot Mountain; sister-in-law, Annie Mae Callaway; several nieces and nephews; many special friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. East was preceded in death by; sisters, Marie Snow, Eloise Atkins; brother, Wayne Bunker, and one infant brother; brothers-in-law, Glenn East, Don Atkins and Garland Snow. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Jack Danley and Rev. Harry Sherrill officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 12:30 PM until the time to depart to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the donor's choice.
