Mrs. Okla Ovella Sawyers Easter

Mrs. Okla Ovella Sawyers Easter, age 89 of Cana, passed away at her daughter's home on Friday, March 16, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Easter was born in Carroll County on February 1, 1923 to Calvin E. and Florence Bonds Sawyers. She was a home maker and a member of Skyview Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Easter loved to write poems and had written many for her children and grandchildren. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mabelene and Don Beverly of Cana; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Carolyn Easter of Mt. Airy and Calvin Weldon and Mary Katharine Easter of Richmond; grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Stanley and husband, Charlie; Teresa Linnett Dickens and husband, Kenneth; Kenneth Easter, Jr.; Curtis Mundy and fiancée, Melissa Hawks; Tim Mundy; Katharine Ovella E. Ross and husband Johnny, John Easter and wife Ashley and Charles Easter; twenty two great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild and a brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Mamie Sawyers of Fancy Gap. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Jacob Easter; a daughter, Flora Annabell Easter; a grandson, Gary Mundy; a great-great grandchild, a step great grandchild; two sisters, Scioto Hawks and Bessie Sawyers; two brothers, Weldon Sawyers and Calvin E. Sawyers, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 19, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wendell Horton. Burial will follow in Cana Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
