Mrs. Oma Hettybell Thomas Grey, 77 of Ararat, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, April 30, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Carroll County on June 24, 1939 to the late Charlie Roe Thomas and Sarah Jane Ayers Thomas. Mrs. Grey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Glenn Grey; a daughter, Sandra Knott; grandchildren, Megan Griffin and Joseph, and Jodie Sawyers and Wes; great-grandchildren, William Noah Lyons, Callie Annabell Griffin, Joseph Gabriel Griffin, Angel Leeann Sawyers, Arick Daniel Sawyers, and Ashtynn Gray Sawyers; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gert and Bob Collins, Alice and Bub Ayers, and Pat and Robert Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Louise Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grey was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Monroe Thomas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Crooked Oak Moravian Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gary Easter and Rev. Emmett Crotts officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service.
