Mrs. Opal Hooker Lankford

Mrs. Opal Hooker Lankford, age 79 of Claudville, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011 in Randolph County, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on July 2, 1932 to the late Arthur Reed Hooker and Marie Collins Hooker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lankford was preceded in death by her husband John Robert Lankford; a son, Junior Lankford and two brothers, Millard Hooker and J. C. Hooker. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lankford is survived two sons, Jimmy Lankford and wife, Janie, Evangelist Rick Lankford, and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Lankford, all of Claudville; three sisters, Lena Lawson of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, Louise Bridges of Sophia, North Carolina and Connie Lawson of Westfield, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Tina Shinault, Shvonda Cockram; Aaron Lankford, Ocean Lankford Hill, Tonya Lankford Wood, Jennifer Lankford Deguzman and Jackie Lankford Janey; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Blake Lankford, Jamie Lankford, Brycen Cockram, Dustin Cockram, Gavin Hill, Gabriel Hill, Colby Shinault, Holden Shinault, Hannah Janey, Eli Janey, Madison Deguzman, Landon Wood and Haden Wood.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lankford will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Whitlow and Pastor Randy Bartley officiating. Burial will follow in the Robert Beasley Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of her granddaughter, Shvonda Cockram, Mitchell Mill Road in Claudville.
