Mrs. Ora Mae Niston Southern

Mrs. Ora Mae Niston Southern Age 86 of Mt. Airy, NC. passed away Friday December 25, 2015 at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Mt. Airy. Mrs. Southern was born March 4, 1929 in Grayson County, VA. to the late Robert Allen and Ora Geneva Cockerham Niston, she was retired from Spencer Corporation and was a member of Ivy Green Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters Lois Vernon of White Plains and Kay Thomas of Mt. Airy, two brothers and sisters-in-law Steve and Diane Niston and Gary and Jackie Niston both of Mt. Airy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Southern was preceded in death by her husband Joe Southern and by three brothers Roosevelt, Simon and Willard Niston. Graveside services will be held Monday December 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery with services conducted by Rev. Tony Holder. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy will be serving the Southern Family.
