Mrs. Ovilla Marie Johnson Hedgecock Hopkins

Mrs. Ovilla Marie Johnson Hedgecock Hopkins, age 73 of Woolwine passed away Thursday at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born in Franklin County on March 4, 1938 to the late George Doyle Johnson and Etta Sink Johnson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Raymond Hedgecock; a son, Emory Lee Hedgecock; and a brother, John Johnson. She was a member of Smith River Church of the Brethren; a volunteer with Red Cross; and a member of the Virlina Ladies Fellowship of the Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. Luther Hopkins of the home; one daughter, Rayna Hedgecock of Woolwine, two sons and daughter in law, Randy and Jeannie Hedgecock of Martinsville, Ronnie Hedgecock of Fieldale; step son and step daughter in law, Kirk and Linda Hopkins of Woolwine; seven Grandchildren, Ryan Hedgecock, Jeremy Hedgecock, Rick Hedgecock, Becky Puckett, Rachel Hedgecock, India Hedgecock, Ivan Byers; two step grandchildren, Joseph and John Martin; three great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Akers of Ferrum, Althea Perdue of Sandy Level; and four brothers, Carl, Bayes, Leo, and G.L. Johnson all of Rocky Mount.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Revs. Danny Gilley and Leo Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
