Mrs. Pearl Holt Blackard

Mrs. Pearl Marie Holt Blackard age 92 of Stuart passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Blue Ridge Nursing Center. She was born on November 5, 1917 in Patrick County to the late Rush and Ella Wilson Holt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Shuble Blackard; a son, J.C. Blackard; a grandson; Charles Henry Blackard, two sisters; Dallas Hensley and Jane Ray and two brothers; Moir and Noel Holt. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ of Dry Pond.
Mrs. Blackard is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Nancy Lawson and husband, James of Stuart and Shirley Handy and husband, Glenn of Stuart; two sons and daughters-in-law; Charles William and wife Doris Haden-Blackard of Woolwine and Bennie Ray and wife Carol Blackard of Stuart; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and 4 step granddaughters, two brothers, Harry Holt of Stuart and Jay Holt of Rocky Mount, VA; two sisters; Norine Bufkin of Martinsville, VA, and Eunice Young of Bassett, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blackard will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Moody Funeral Home with Aaron Blackard, James Percival and Don Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Nancy and James Lawson, 2038 Big A School Road, Stuart.
