Mrs. Pearl Lurachel Thompson Brooks, 96, of Dobson entered the portals of Heaven on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at UPAC of Elkin (Elkin Healthcare.) She was born in Surry County on December 7, 1916 to the late Jessie Franklin and Lillie Lundy Thompson. Mrs. Brooks was a retired seamstress from Washington Mills and a positive roll model to all who know her. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters-in-law, Emma B. Brooks of Dobson and Nancy Brooks also of Dobson; four grandchildren, Janet and husband, Tom Robertson, Michael R. and wife Kimberly Brooks, Robert A. and wife Shannon Brooks and Timothy W. Brooks; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Dalton Robertson and Derek and Leighanne Brooks; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Marjorie Gregory and Myrtie Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Brooks; two sons, Richard Joseph and Michael Wayne Brooks; a brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Edith Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Brother Mickey Brooks with burial to follow in Rocky Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Suite 2211, Charlotte, NC 28202. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Elkin Healthcare (UPAC of Elkin) for their loving and compassionate care.
